Unlocking the Bug Net & Naniwa’s Questline

The Insect Catching hobby becomes available once you reach Dream Guide (DG) Level 5.

To begin, locate Naniwa stationed near the windmill along the Cloverdale outskirts. After a brief introductory quest on recognizing insect rustles in the tall grass, she will hand you your first Bubble Net.

Core Catching Mechanics: Stalking & Range Indicators

Unlike fishing, insect catching requires stealth and patience:

1. Spot the Bug: Watch for fluttering wings, crawling shadows on tree trunks, or buzzing ground markers.
2. Engage Stealth Mode: Do not run. Running or hopping immediately frightens common and rare insects away. Hold your sneak button to creep forward slowly.
3. Line Up Your Arc: Approach the bug from behind or the side to stay out of its direct line of sight.
4. Swing on Green: A circular reticle will appear over the target. Wait until the ring turns solid green, then tap your net swing button to catch.

As you level up your Insect Catching hobby, visit Naniwa’s workshop to purchase upgraded nets:

• Reinforced Net: Increases swing range by 25%, reducing the chance of premature escapes.
• Silk Capture Net: Adds a wider catch angle and grants bonus star-quality odds when netting rare tree-dwelling beetles.

What to Do with Caught Insects

• Cloverdale Museum: Donate the first copy of each species for milestone achievement rewards and cosmetic plaques.
• Home Vivariums: Place custom glass terrariums inside your house or garden plot to display living specimens.
• Selling for Gold: Surplus rare and epic insects fetch substantial payouts from travelling collectors!
